NKOTB

NKOTB

One morning last week while running at the gym and watching the Today Show I saw a preview for the New Kids On The Block concert. I was under the impression it was a onetime reunion concert but then later found out from a friend they were making a comeback and had made a new CD. So of course I had to check it out, so I set it to tape and planned on watching it while Nick was on a campout with the scouts. So Friday night I settled in to watch the concert not knowing if I'd scream like a school girl or want to vomit at the sight the 35 year old men trying to stage a comeback. Well. . . I now know that I still know the lyrics to every song even though I haven't heard them for 15+ years. It brought back so many memories of hours spent out in the garage learning every NKOTB dance move with my siblings. Suzi and I would buy teen magazines with our babysitting money just to tear out their pictures and pin them up like wallpaper in our bedroom. All six of us kids made a music video at Universal Studios to "Hanging Tough" and we had a one night showing of "Cover Girl" at a family reunion. I could go on and on but we were all fans and we all had our favorites, Tim/Donny, Suzi/Jordan, Me/Jonathon, Jeff/Danny, Steve/Joey (yeah I still know all of their names and if I thought long enough I could probably tell you their favorite colors and foods too).  I can't imagine what our parents thought but I'm sure we gave them a few laughs. I know this because I'm now a parent and after the boys go to bed we laugh too. I don't know how successful the NTOKB comeback will be but I can say, thanks for the memories, the Doll kids have got some good ones.

I don't know if I'm more embarrassed that you blogged about them, or that we all went and watched the clips on youtube.

Once a fan, always a fan.

I don't know who I'm more embarrassed for... you for posting about NKOTB, me for almost posting similar experiences, or them. I, too, watched the Today Show concert and found myself singing along, dancing along and feeling all giggly again. Why does something so bad still feel so good.

I am glad to see the sun has come out, knowing you that has to put a smile on your face! It is SO green in your backyard, Ben keeps talking about looking into Washington as a possible perm residence..It looks beautiful. You better believe I dragged Ben over to the computer to see your mother's day trip away from the kids, I said "see Ben this is what life looks like after school, please make a mental note!" I miss you!
