Complaint Department

Last week (September 9th to be exact) Spencer and I were in Fred Meyer looking for a lunch bag for Carson. We were directed by an employee to the seasonal department where the last of the school supplies were. While there I noticed that behind the back to school aisle was the Halloween/ fall aisle and then a Christmas aisle! CHRISTMAS!  IN SEPTEMBER! Is it just me or does that make you nauseas as well? How am I ever supposed to teach my children the joys of dressing up and gorging themselves on candy for the night? Or to be thankful and gorge themselves on turkey and pumpkin pie with the ever looming Santa with his giant sack-o-toys?  Once Carson catches sight of jolly old St. Nick in the store he'll think it must be coming soon and then the "I want" list will begin! Are stores really hurting that bad for business that they need to start now? Well I won't be buying a single item until at least the day after Thanksgiving and that is a promise!

Hello - I totally agree. It smacks of "ingratitude" that the stores begin their push for Christmas before Thanksgiving much less Halloween. More people need to hold back on their shopping until after Thanksgiving before (and if) the message will ever be sent to those who feel a need to commercialize every aspect of our lives! And it is like you said - the novelty of "Christmas is coming" is long since worn off for our children/grandchildren thanks to all the advertising and displays seen everywhere . . .

*Ugh* I cannot stand the commercialism of Christmas...actually of all holidays. Seriously, Halloween merchandise in August, and the craft stores now have Christmas stuff. I think it is indicative of our society. We "rush" from one season to the next. In the end, it's all just "stuff" they're hocking.

I can't believe it either. But thank goodness, at least for now, I'm not taking Rebecca shopping with me because she is too freaked out by all the Halloween decorations. So at least she'll be allowed to avoid "Christmas" till Halloween is over!

I have been wondering for a long time now why you do not make the toasted coconut instant pudding any more. I used to use it in numerous recipes. Everyone loved my bunt cake that I made with it. Please let me know if you still make the toasted coconut pudding and if you do where I might purchase some.
