Looking up

It's amazing how much brighter your perspective on life becomes when you don't start and end each day with the overwhelming urge to puke. I'm currently at week 15 and most of those unpleasant first trimester side effects have passed for which I am grateful. I've finally been able to get off the couch and start running again, just a little slower and with a lot more effort than before.  Yesterday I had an appointment with the baby doctor and heard the heartbeat for the first time. I've seen it several times on ultrasound before but there's a difference between seeing the tiny flicker on the monitor and hearing it. While the doctor was listening to the heartbeat the baby gave three sizeable kicks that could be heard through the Doppler. The doctor was surprised saying that movement doesn't usually register this early but that whoever was in there must be a soccer player in the making. Well whoever you are in there, we are just so happy to hear you are active and growing and look forward to meeting you in March.
